EU PPWR & Hangers: How Packaging Compliance Affects European Buyers in 2026

What is PPWR? Why is it so important?

PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) is the most recently enacted mandatory packaging regulation in the EU. It replaces the original EU Packaging Directive 94/62/EC and will come into effect on February 11, 2025, with the main application period starting from August 12, 2026.

This document requires:

- All packaging must be recyclable orreusable by 2030.

- Set a minimum usage rate of recycled materials (e.g., plastic packaging ≥ 30%).

- Mandatory implementation of producer responsibility extension (EPR) and packaging reduction.

- Require the provision of traceable compliance documents and test reports.


This means that if the packaging materials (outer box, product inner box, stickers, tags, fillers, etc.) of the hangers do not meet the PPWR standards, they will face risks such as customs detention, EPR fines, and brand rejection.

Therefore, completing the packaging compliance verification and passing the PPWR test verification has become a hard requirement for European and American buyers when selecting suppliers.



What PPWR packaging material tests have we completed?

This test basically covers all the packaging materials commonly used for our exported hangers, including:
Double corrugated cardboard,sealing tape,outer wrapping film,packaging tape, elastic bands,PE bags,wooden pallets,packing straps,Large plastic bags, sealing stickers, pearl cotton.

We conducted relevant tests based on the regulations of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR) for lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium content standards.

The test results showed that the tested packaging materials met the relevant limit requirements and passed the test.


What does the test mean for our customers?

1. Reduces the risks encountered during customs clearance, avoiding rejections, fines, or sales bans due to non-compliant packaging, ensuring stable delivery schedules.
2. Reduces the risk of non-compliance, reducing the risks of rectification, removal from shelves, etc., caused by non-compliant packaging materials.
